One proverb says a good teacher is worth more than a bookshelf, and when that good teacher is also a role model for students, then it results in priceless experience. An unannounced teacher in regular English language class within educational program of the Academy players created such experience for the youngest players.
Instead of their usual English language teacher Ana Papic, Hajduk's striker Marko Futacs showed up at the classroom door. When their educator Petra at the beginning of the class announced that they will have another teacher today, Marko Futacs was probably the last person on their mind, and it's hard to describe their enthusiasm when he entered the classroom.
In his football career, Marko has played for several clubs from different countries, so children have listened carefully to his message about the importance of learning foreign languages, which has greatly helped him to make it easier to adapt to new places.
After that, the most interesting part of the lesson started, and it was an educational game aimed at acquiring football vocabulary in English. Marko pulled out the words from which the beginners had to make a sentence, and they showed enviable knowledge. Apart from teaching, the children got a chance to ask Marko many questions in English and he answered each of them. In the end, they all had a little photo shoot, to remember, as they said, the best English language lesson in their life.
"It's always nice to have fun with kids and emphesize the importance of learning foreign languages and education in general. From my own experience, I know how much your English knowledge means when you come to a foreign country, and that is what they might also need someday. It was nice to spend some time with them, they were excellent and they are good students. They were really delighted with my arrival, which makes me happy“ said Futacs.
