On Wednesday, September 20, Hajduk played the first Cup round in the season 2017/2018 against NK Oriolik from Oriolik. Hajduk won 3:0 and qualified for the next Cup round of 16. Head coach Joan Carrillo gave a chance to some of the younger players, among which Jandrek and Kovacevic were among the starters. In the 13th minute, Hajduk took a lead, after a goal action in which Said scored for 1:0 on the assist of Jandrek from the right. In the 83rd minute, Toma Basic, who entered the game as a substitute in the 67th minute, scored for 2:0 from a free kick. The final result was set in the stoppage time, after a foul on Said for which Hajduk was awarded a penalty kick from which Said scored for 3:0.
