The players achieved their goal, Hajduk placed in the quarter-finals of the Croatian Cup. Only four days after the demanding derby against Dinamo, Andre Fomitschow's free kick secured the next Cup round.
"It was a very tough match against a highly motivated opponent, I'm happy because I scored for a win, but most importantly, we have qualified for the Cup quarterfinals, especially after the demanding derby we played on Saturday against Dinamo. We will now focus on the game in Koprivnica, and as every time, victory is our only option" said Fomitschow after the match.
Goalkeeper Karlo Letica didn't have too much to do and for the second time in the Cup games, he kept a clean sheet.
"I'm glad for that, althouth I did not even have too much to do, but I tried to stay focused all the time. It was a fighting game, in a great atmosphere, Sibenik was a good opponent, but it is important that we qualified further for the competition".
Fomitschow scored after a foul on Edin Sehic, for which a player of Sibenik Perica Sare was sent off.
"We were expecting such an aggressive Sibenik. That offense on me for the red card was an ugly foul, but it could be anyone else, it's only important that we stayed in the competition. We might have scored more goals and closed the match earlier, but given that we only came to Sibenik a few days after the derby against Dinamo, we must be satisfied with the result of this match, forget about it and focus on the game against Slaven Belupo" said Sehic.
