Anthony Kalik was born November 05, 1997 in Sydeny, where his parents Denis and Francis moved from Korcula.

"My father comes from Blato and my mother from Vela Luka, both places are on the island of Korcula. Although I was born in Australia, Korcula and Croatia are close to my heart" says Anthony who understands and speaks Croatian, but it is still much easier for him to communicate in English.

"My father has always been supporting Hajduk and he raised me as Hajduk fan. We often watched Hajduk's games and I visited Poljud even before I became a player of Hajduk" said young player.

2 - The youngest professional football player from "down under"

Kalik came to Hajduk from Central Coast Mariners, the club that competes in the Australian A - League. At the age of only 15 years and 8 months, he signed his first professional contract with Mariners to become the youngest professional player in Australia.

He got a scholarship from "Australian Institute of Sport" that takes care of the Australian sports talents and he played for youth Australian national teams.

3 - He admired Kranjcar and prefers Skoko

"My favourite Hajduk player was Niko Kranjcar. I grew up watching Kranjcar playing for Hajduk" says Kalik who now prefers Leo Messi from Barcelona.

Kalik is not the first Croatian Australian who plays for Hajduk. The most famous players of such origin were Josip Skoko and Anthony Seric and before them, Steven Horvat.

"In my opinion, Skoko is the best Australian player of Croatian origin. He helped me a lot when I decided to join Hajduk. He recommended Hajduk and said that it is the best option for a young player and that I can make a progress here. He didn't have to talk much because for me, Hajduk is the best Croatian club".

4 - Attacking, nimble midfielder

Anthony Kalik plays attacking midfielder and says that he is nimble and feisty.

"MAXtv First League differs from Australian A - League and there is not much time to think. Hajduk has very good players and we have a team of great potential. I have been in Split for a bit longer than 2 weeks and I'm glad that I already got an opportunity to play for the first team in Kranjceviceva. I'm looking forward to the match against Rijeka. I'll give my best and the coach will decide who will play".

5 - The youngest First team player of Hajduk

For Kalik, one of the youngest players at coach Buric's disposal, it will be a dream come true to play for Hajduk at Poljud.

Currently, he is the youngest First team player who made the official appearance for Hajduk, he is one month younger than Nikola Vlasic. The only younger player is Zdravko Simonovic, born 1998, but he still didn't make an official debut for the first team.
