On the occasion of 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Olympic Committee, it is necessary to remember the Croatian sportsmen ambassadors who lobbied for recognition of Croatia around the world.

Understanding that in the first year of independence, Croatia  doesn't have its embassies nor consulates, but only a few offices, on September 23, 1991, the Council of the Croatian Olympic Committee decided to establish a honorary duty of the sports envoy / ambassador.

In countries where they have lived or worked, 59 ambassadors around the world, including athletes and officials, patriots and sports dignitaries, were the first and only messengers, spokespersons and representatives of the young Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Olympic Committee. Our most successful coach Tomislav Ivic was among them as the Croatian envoy in France.
