Hajduk's coach Hari Vukas spoke with media covering Hajduk about his three matches on the position of chief strategist, with two wins over Slaven Belupo and Lokomotiva, and one loss from Zadar.
Hajduk is on the third position which ensure playing in the European League, and there are four more rounds till the championship's finish.
"I can't be fully satisfied, because after two initial wins we lost in Zadar. That ruined an impression. Our first half in Zadar wasn't very convincing, Zadar players were aggresive and we were not able to impose our gae. In the second half we had some good chances, but didn't seize them. Just a little bit of concentration was missing to turn that match on our side."I want to fulfill our goal. Again, it's playing in Europe, and I believe that would be my ticket to lead Hajduk in the future. I have an agreement with the management to finish this season as a head coach, and we will see what will come next."
What was your idea of coaching job when you started it?
"From the first day I wanted to present my determination and confidence to players. I believe in what I am doing, and I look only forward. For me as a coach, the most important is to transfer my vision of the game to players. As I see Hajduk, it has to be agressive, combating, and dominate in a game."
You wanted to have all the signed players available?
"I spoke with the management, and told them my thoughts, including that I want all the signed players to be available to play. I brought back Mario Maloča, who is in Hajduk for the long time, and is a captain. His play was sometime good, sometime not so good, but he means a lot to be around.
There are lot of young players on a roaster. What do you think about their performance?
"We can talk about it when season finishes. I can't ignore what they are showing on every practice, and every match. The key question is can they show that on a longer term. I don't want to divide players on young and old. The only criteria is that player reacts in a right way, whenever he gets a chance."
What do you think about your forwards not being very efficient?
"I played as a forward, and I know strikers live on goals. It's hard when there is no scoring, but we'll work on it. I can't blame them for anything, because I feel they have a strong wish to be more efficient, but often they lack some calm. Strikers have phases when they score anything, they can kick from the dressing room, and they would score, and sometime they are helpless. In such situations you must be fair to yourself and to your co-players, and continue to work even harder."
How do you judge Sušić and Mezga's performances?
"Sušić je very important player for us. He shows on practices that he is hungry of getting better, and to prove himself. However, he had some difficult moments this winter. I hope he will be the right one when needed, because we really need real Sušić. Mezga arrived to Hajduk with a reputation of a player with the Champions League and European League experience with Maribor. I know him well, and now I put them on a position closer to an opponent's goal, and be dangerous from the second plan. He found himself there, and I'm satisfied with his recent plays."
