The inspiration for the name is based on two foundations: the historical one and the role from the TV series "Velo misto", which has remained forever in the hearts of Hajduk supporters. The historical foundation for Rico's character for the mentioned series was a Hajduk player Nikola Gazdic, who was named Janjcic (Lamb) because of his curly hair. Since in Dalmatia, the person with a characteristic curly hair is often nicknamed "Rico", Gazdic's character in "Velo misto" got that nickname.

Due to its characteristic Dalmatian background, this nickname was used as the basis for the name of Hajduk's official mascot.

By entering the Club, Rico got number 12! With our supporters, he is a great supporter of the team and the 12th player.

Rico will now attend all HNK Hajduk events. The first opportunity for socializing with the official mascot will be at Sunday's Adriatic Derby against Rijeka, when our youngest fans will meet Rico at the entrance U.
