Croatian Ministry of Culture enlisted the City Stadium Poljud on a national Register of protected cultural heritage, List of protected cultural goods on November 23, 2015.
Expert panel for determining the characteristics of cultural properties established that the City stadium Poljud has all the characteristics of cultural property to be listed in the List of protected cultural goods.
This great stadium is the home venue of football club Hajduk Split and it was built in 1979 in the scenic neighbourhood of Poljud, which is why it was given the name City Stadium Poljud.
The stadium was designed by a prominent Croatian architect Boris Magas (1930. - 2013.) on the occasion of VIII. Mediterranean Games that back in 1979 were held in Split.
Also known under the name the Poljud Beauty, this stadium is really remarkable and admired for its architectural concept for decades. Its delicate shell-like construction, positioned almost right by the sea, blends perfectly with the city's Mediterranean visage, as though it had been there since forever.
