Hajduk condemns all forms of violence and inappropriate behavior at sporting arenas and beyond. At the same time, the Club has been pointing out, and will keep pointing, without exception, to all irregularities, illegalities and lack of transparency. Hajduk shall keep asking for democracy and equality for all football stakeholders by all possible lawful means, as it has constantly been doing, together with our supporters.
The public reaction after the ugly scenes during Croatia - Czech Republic match and the recent events during the EURO 2016 in France, has been turbulent. Unfortunately, individuals use this situation for calculations from other spheres. As if acting according to some prescribed scenario, they attach labels of guilt to those who are actually calling for respect of law.
It even goes so far as to directly put the organized group of Hajduk fans in the context of these events. Indirectly, which is particularly absurd, Hajduk too. Our society, exhausted by everyday affairs, in the midst of yet another in a series of inappropriate events around the national team, was served consequences.
Let us now ask ourselves whether we are willing to look at one another and raise a question about the situation the entire society was brought into? What happened between France 1998 and France 2016? What went wrong in these 18 years? From such unity and pride to what we have today.
How do we feel as a society in which those who call for respect of the procedures set out by law are now publically accused? The current Law on Sport, for instance. Are the incidents from Saint-Etienne the sole problem or are they just a consequence of ignoring the problem?
It is easy to answer this question, but the question is do we want to be so honest. At least to ourselves, for a start.
