On Thursday, Hajduk presented Argentinian Nicolas Leandro Velez, a 25-year old striker developed in River Plate's Youth Academy, who previously played in Spain, Singapore and India.

Marin Brbic, President of the Board, welcomed Velez and said that he is the kind of a player that Hajduk was missing.

"He started playing in River Plate's Academy where he stayed for 11 years and later he had an interesting football path. By bringing him to Hajduk, we got what we needed" said Brbic.

Nicolas Velez took a shirt number 9.

"I'm happy for coming to Hajduk. I want to thank to the Board, the President and the coach for giving me a chance to play for such a great club. I believe that this is a step forward in my career. I had offfers from Asia and a successful club from South America, but when I was offered to come to Split,  I had no doubts about accepting the offer. I wanted to play in Europe and I heard a lot of great things about Hajduk, the city of Split and the fans Torcida that are passionate and devoted to the club. This is a big chance for me. I always wanted to try my chances in Europe and now I got a chance to do so" said Velez.

"We are in the middle of winter preparations and I already had a chance to get to know the rest of the team. I think I can play each attacking position, I can score goals and assist. It's my job. I prefer offensive football and playing one on one."

"I know that Dinamo is the biggest rival and I look forward to derbies. It is similar to the Argentinian derbies beetween River and Boca. It is good for the League that such rivalry exists" concluded Velez.
