On the occasion of the 68th birthday of Torcida and 100th birthday of the legendary football player of Hajduk, Frano Matošić, today, his mural, made in Split city center, was presented to the public. The initiators of the idea are Frane Dražen Spain, the grandson of Frane Matošić and Boris Vrdoljak Mandeta, author of the book about the legendary captain.

"Hajduk must always appreciate its tradition and history and learn from it. I would like that all the boys from the city look up to him and other legendary former players of Hajduk" said the President of Hajduk, Jasmin Huljaj, who thanked Torcida for making a mural and congratulated them their 68th birthday.

"This year we celebrate 100th birthday of Frane Matošić and 68th birthday of Torcida, on this occasion we decided to make a mural to him, that's the least we could do for him" said President of Torcida Željko Mamić.

"Frane Matošić was a real captain, leader, a fighter on the field and beyond. For a long time, Hajduk does not have such a player and person, so we hope that today's mural, many chronicles about Frane Matošić and the upcoming book about him will be an incentive for all future generations" said Ante Krnić, representative of Naš Hajduk Association.

Then, in front of the wall, the candles were lit by Huljaj, Mamic, Krnić, the representative of former Hajduk player Bogdan Kragić and Mrs. Katja Spain, the daughter of the late Matošić.

This gathering has attracted a great public interest, apart from many supporters of Hajduk, the Mayor of Split, Andro Krstulović Opara also attended, as well as Hajduk President of the Assembly Vinko Radovani and members of the Supervisory Board Denis Kosor, Marko Erceg and Antonio Kuzmanić. There was also a large number of former players of the Club besides Bogdan Kragić, like Ivo Bego, Stanko Mrduljaš, Ante Ivković, Ivan Katalinić, Željko Mijač, former coach Milivoj Buterer, secretary Goran Brailo and many others.
