Dejan Mezga was a true hero in the 2:1 victory over Lokomotiva this Wednesday on Poljud. Hajduk's midfielder scored twice, and continued a series of great plays, after scoring in Koprivnica.
Two nice performances by 29-year old player, who was given a new role by the head coach Hari Vukas, closer to an opposite team's goal. Dejan justified coach's trust.
"I know Dejan very good, he is a smart, very rational player, with huge experience of a scorer both in the Champions League and the European League when he played in Maribor," says Vukas, responsible for Mezga's and the whole team's awakening.
Mezga was happy after the match vs. Lokomotiva.
"It's a great feeling, goals bring confidence and make me eagerly await for the next game. Now we need to think only about our next opponent Zadar," he said after Wednesday match. After some difficult moments since he arrived to Split, Mezga was finally positioned where he thinks he should be.
"This was always my position, closer to a goal, where I can score and assist. Playing elsewhere on a pitch was the main reason why I didn't give what was expected," says Mezga, adding that the whole team is finally playing on a level according to its abbilities. "We won twice, now we need to continue that in Zadar," says Mezga.
