HNK Hajduk can proudly confirm that Lovre Kalinić will be the captain of our team next season as well! Hajduk has agreed with Aston Villa to extend the loan until the end of the current season, and Lovre is already joining the training of the first team at Poljud.

Kalinic rejoined Hajduk at the beginning of the second half of last season and led the team 22 times as captain until the end of the season. In total, he has played 156 official matches for the first team so far.

- Lovre's football and human qualities are well known to all of us. He is a leader and captain who brings invaluable experience to our club. He acts as an extended arm of the coach on the field and makes his teammates better. His level of quality and the already mentioned experience will certainly contribute a lot to the development of our young players, which he has already shown in the six months he spent in Hajduk on the last occasion - said sports director Mindaugas Nikoličius.

- I will repeat for the umpteenth time what Hajduk means to me and my family, especially what it means to be the captain of such a large Club. Negotiations were long, it started a few months ago, Aston Villa postponed until the end of the European Championship, they planned to sell me somewhere, but my thoughts and wishes were directed only towards Hajduk and in the end we managed to agree on cooperation for another year. I believe in these guys, we are all going to roll up our sleeves and I have no doubt that we will do very good things this season - said Lovre after signing the contract.
