Before the departure for Osijek, the first team had one hour long training session at main pitch at Poljud, they had lunch at the club's restaurant and around 11:30, they left for Osijek.

The whole week was dedicated to preparations for the match at Gradski vrt. Coach Joan Carillo couldn't count on Zvonimir Kozulj and Marko Bencun, who are still under rehab. Josip Juranovic underwent surgery and everything went well so he will soon start rehab. Georgi Terziev is not on the list of passengers for minor injury.

Coach Carillo took 18 players to Osijek. On their last two away matches, Hajduk won 4 points (Cibalia 1:2, RNK Split 1:1). From October 2016 till today, Hajduk played six away matches and most often, goal scporers were Marko Futacs, Ante Erceg or Ahmed Said. On their last match in Osijek, Erceg scored and this Sunday, he won't play for accumulated yellow cards.
