Hajduk's striker Marko Futacs is the top scorer of MAXtv First League in the 2016/2017 season. Marko scored 18 goals in the championship, one more than the Soudani from Dinamo Zagreb. He is the first player of Hajduk to reach the top of league's top scorers list since 1992.
He played his first officia match for Hajduk race at the end of August, after the injury prevented him from playing during the summer, primarily in the UEFA international matches, and he also missed the first five rounds of the MAXtv 1st League.
Futacs scored the first goal on September 17, 2016 in Hajduk's 4:0 win against Slaven Belupo. Marko also scored three goals in the Cup and scored 21 goals in 28 official appearances for Hajduk. In the MAXtv First League matches, Ante Erceg, Toma Basic, Nikola Vlasic, Ahmed Said Said and Franck Ohandza helped him score by providing assists twice each.
The top goalscorer of MAXtv First League has already set a new record in his first season for Hajduk. In the past 25 years, no Hajduk player scored so many goals in their debut season. The former record was set by Stanko Bubalo, who in his first season (2000/2001) scored 14 First League goals.
Futacs is now equal with Tomislav Erceg, who in the season 1993/1994 also scored 18 goals in the League, which has still remained the record number of goals in one season for Hajduk players.
