After Hajduk's first friendly match and their 2:0 win over Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on winter preparations in Turkey, coach Joan Carrillo said:
"The basic idea was to provide players a training against good opponents. In the first part of the preparation, the players already did a lot, we have tried a number of different tactical variations. We were better in the second half, we had more possession, which is generally my idea of the game. In general, I am satisfied with the first match, and after analyzing it in details, in the remaining part of our preparation, we will correct all those weaknesses that we noticed in this introduction phase".
Hajduk started the match in the 4-3-1-2 formation?
"This is one of the possibilities but we are also working on other variants of the game formation. This system can be easily changed in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. We are now practicing and improving during preparation, we have plenty of time ahead of us, but some contours are already visible. In the first half, at times we didn't cover space and synchronize lines well. I noticed these things and we will continue to work on them".
The coach also commented on his philosophy of the game.
"My idea is primarily to play well and win. In order to accomplish all of our goals and wishes, we must find the perfect balance first, that is, the balance between offensive and defensive tasks. For defense, players need to be fully concentrated. I know very well that in Split everyone prefers attacking game, I also love it, but in order to play with two strikers, the team has to be compact both back and forth".
He is satisfied with the performance of his players, especially young players.
"I am satisfied with how our young players played, as they have a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I'm pleased with all the players, I want to make them adopt to a different philosophy of the game. I don't want to say that it is better than the previous one, but it is different. For that, we need time and a lot of work, so we are all now focus on that. We have 25 days before our first official match and until then, we will be able to do much more, in order to completely transfer all ideas to the pitch".
