On Wednesday evening, Hajduk and Split played the 23rd First League City derby in the round 30 of the championship and Hajduk won 5:2. It was for sure one of Hajduk's biggest ever wins against the neighbouring team and one of this season's biggest wins of Hajduk.
Early into the match, Jurendic (RNK Split) fauled Memolla and a penalty kick was awarded to Hajduk in the 12th minute and Nikola Vlasic scored for 1:0 lead. Even though Hajduk was a better team although the match, RNK Split had their chances and put pressure on Hajduk's defense at the end of the first half, which paid back to them when Tomicic scored an equalizer in the 39th minute. Hajduk continued to attack to regain the lead and soon afterwards, Zoran Nizic scored for 2.1, right before the half-time.
In the second half, Hajduk put even more pressure on RNK Split's goal and only two minutes into the second half, Ante Erceg scored for 3:1. In the 63rd minute, RNK Split scored for 3:2, while four minutes later, Ahmed Said Said scored for 4:2. Hajduk kept attacking and the final result was set by Franck Ohandza, who scored for 5:2 in the 85th minute.
