On Saturday afternoon, Hajduk played yet another great match in a row, it was probably the best performance of the first team this season so it is no wonder that they won the match against Osijek at Poljud. The final result was 5:1 for Hajduk and at one point, Hajduk was even leading 5:1.
Right from the starts, Hajduk showed great domination on the pitch and kept creating chances to score, Osijek was mostly defeating. Despite constant attacking and focus on the offensive game, the result didn't change in the first half. Hajduk squad kept dominating in the second half as well, which paid back to them only in the 56th minute, when Toma Basic, who entered the game as a substitute for Savvas in the half-time, scored for 1:0. This goal marked the beginning of a spectacular high - scoring win, as within only 15 minutes, Hajduk scored three more goals. In the 61st, Hajduk's top scorer Marko Futacs scored yet another goal for 2:0, while only four minutes later, Toma Basic scored his second goal on the match, for 3:0. In the 70th minute, Ante Erceg scored for 4:0. Two minutes after he scored, he got replaced by Ahmed Said Said, who scored in the 88th minute for 5:0.
In the stoppage time, Boban scored the only goal for Osijek, after which Hajduk squad and over 10 000 of their supporters at the stands started celebrating one of the biggest wins this season and surely one of the most important ones. Namely, Hajduk is now back on the third place on the First League table, with three points more than Osijek, that now holds the fourth place.
