HNK Hajduk is delighted to confirm that the Club has reached an agreement with 32-year-old Hungarian right-back Gergő Lovrencsics, who signed a contract with Hajduk in Slovenia until the summer of 2023. He will join the trainings of the first team on Sunday, since he played in the European Championship for Hungary. Lovrencsics arrives as a free agent after his contract with the current Hungarian champion Ferencvaros expired, and he will wear the number 26 jersey in Hajduk.
He was born on September 1, 1988 in Szolnok, Hungary, and began his football career at the Budafoki MTE club. At the beginning of his career he played for the Hungarian clubs Pécsi MFC, Lombard-Pápa TFC, then in 2013 he moved to the Polish Lech Poznań with which he won the title and the Super Cup, and spent the last three years in Ferencvaros where he won three consecutive as a captain. title of champion, and in that period he won the Hungarian Cup.
So far, he has played a little less than 400 official matches for various clubs and the national team, with 43 goals and 78 assists. He is a standard member of the A national team of Hungary, for which he played a total of 44 times, and, if we count active players, he is currently in third place in the number of national team appearances. In the 2019/2020 season, he played in the Europa League groups with Ferencvaros, and in the last season he played in the Champions League groups.
