Fran Tudor attended promotion of the latest Hajduk's video, and we seized an opportunity to ask him about incoming derby with Dinamo this Saturday at 5 pm in Zagreb.
"It's a great film, showing how the whole city lives with Hajduk, especially on a match day. We players enjoy that, it's not something you can find anywhere, like fans chanting the whole game. They are definitelly our 12th player, help us a lot, they give us extra strength," said Tudor.
You never played European matches or derby, but you did feel a Poljud atmosphere. What does it feel like? Why did you skip match with Osijek, after five matches in a row?
"I was sick, and left out from the roaster. Everything is OK now, I will be ready for Dinamo. If I will play, you can count I will give all I have. I'll try to score, but it's more important how the whole team will play. Who will score is less important."
You scored twice, to Rijeka and Slaven Belupo, but this will be your first derby. How do you feel about it?
"In any case it's a special match. You don't play every day at Maksimir, especially in a Hajduk's uniform. It's an extra motivation, if anyone need something more than beating Dinamo at Maksimir as a motivation."
What do you expect Dinamo will play like?
"I believe they will be motivated, in spite of securing the championship, and of having a Cup final match four days later. They will want to finish the season without a loss, to equal Hajduk's 1950 record. We want to spoil that, and we are going for a victory. After all, we need those three points to secure European season. I expect a tough game."
What kind of score would be satisfactory for you?
"We don't think about a draw, although that's positive, too. We are coming to Maksimir to win, that's the only thing we are thinking about."
What will be your role?
"It's up to coach Vukas. We must respect his tactical ideas. Whether I will be one of the starting 11, or get in later, I will give my best. I believe in myself, that's the most important."
Will you have a lot of fans cheering for you in Zagreb?
"Of course, I was born there. My family, relatives, friends live in Zagreb. There will be a lot of my fans on a stand, at least few dozens. In general, I expect more Hajduk's fans, than those of Dinamo."
