Tomislav Duka opened a new football season with a very good and confident performance on the pitch in Malta, where Hajduk beat Gzira United 2:0. Hajduk's goalkeeper didn't have many saves against the Maltese team but at the start of the second half, he had a brilliant intervention and saved a great Kone's attempt.

"We well deserved to win the first-leg game, it was not easy to play in such difficult conditions, but it was obvious that we are the much better team. We have justified the role of a favorite and now we have to finish our job in front of our supporters at Poljud. We will not underestimate anyone, we are focused on the game and I believe that we will be playing even better on Thursday" Duka said, ahead of the second-leg match in Split in which he will also be among the starting 11.

Already on Sunday, Hajduk will play against Istra 1961 at the opening of the new HT First League season.

"We are preparing for both matches. We are ready for all challenges that are awaiting us at the start of the season, the atmosphere in the team is excellent, we had good pre-season preparation, there have been no major injuries in the team and we are all eagerly awaiting these two games with our supporters at Poljud".

He also commented his teammates at the goalkeeper position.

"Josip is our first goalkeeper, he played great last season, we get along very well and we help one another during training sessions. There are also Blažević and Ljubić, Matijaš was also preparing with us, we are a great blend of youth and experience and having great competition is positive because every single one of us can give our best to become a better goalkeeper day after day" concluded Duka.
