A Hajduk legend, one of the greatest players in clubs history Dragan Holcer passed away today. He is the part of one of the greatest generations Hajduk ever had, which started in 1970s, with Holcer as a leader and team captain.

He was born on January 19, 1945 in German concentration camp Cvizl. He started his playing career in 1961 in Radnički Niš, and in 1967 he joined Hajduk. He was a defence player, and member of Yugoslav national team in 52 games, including European Championship 1968 in Italy, when Yugoslavia ended second.

Holcer collected 419 caps with Hajduk, and scored nine goals. He was one of the best center-halfs in Hajduk's history.

With Hajduk he won three Yugoslav championships, in seasons 1970/71, 1973/74 and 1974/75, as well as three national Cups in 1972, 1973 and 1974. He left Hajduk in June 1975, and left to German VfB Stuttgart to play next six seasons. In the season 1967/68 Holcer was awarded as the best player of the league, after voting in daily and weekly newspapers and magazines.

After finishing his rich career, Holcer was the member of club's management until 1986, and later briefly in 2000.

Commemoration for Dragan Holcer will be held on Friday at noon, at the Poljud stadium auditorium.

Funeral is scheduled for Friday at 5 pm at Split city cemetery Lovrinac.
