Hajduk's players were unconsolable after they lost from Dinamo in the Cup final. Instead of football, the focus was mainly directed at refereeing mistakes that damaged Hajduk and directed the course of the great derby played at the stadium in Vinkovci.
"We are sad, we have had our chances, if the penalty and the red card were awarded, it would have pointed the match in the other direction. It is no longer necessary to talk about the referees, we have already said, such mistakes can't be done in the Cup final" said captain Zoran Nižić.
The dissapointment from the dressing room was described by midfielder Mijo Caktaš as well, who played a good match and hit the post after Adama Gyurcso's corner kick, the ball didn't want to enter the goal.
"I'm sorry for that post, I'm sorry it didn't enter the goal. I think the game was good for watching, dynamic and combative. However, when I look at my teammates in the dressing room after the match and how these mistakes reflected on us, such things are unacceptable! The obvious penalty was not awarded to us and the referee lately wrongly judged offside position and immediately the game went in the other direction" said Caktaš.
He was mostly refering to the situations in the first part of the non-existen Ahmed Said Said's offside position, who crossed directly to Danijel Zagorac's goal, and was then fouled, and an unpunished foul for penalty kick on Gyurcso, which was obviously hit by the leg, while the match referee Mario Zebec instead awarded him a yellow card for diving, which caused the amazement of all those present at the stadium in Vinkovci.
"I'm disappointed with refereeing, but I'm proud of the guys and how they played. Everyone can make one mistake, but when three happen at one match, I think it's unacceptable. It's a pity that we did not win the trophy, but we got out of the dressing room with raised heads" concluded Caktaš.
Dante Stipica had several great interventions, especially in the first half when he stopped Dinamo players' attempts. Sadness was visible on the face of Hajduk's goalkeeper after the match. Not only him, but all his teammates who played really fantastic 90 minutes of the Cup final in Vinkovci, each one of them.
"Our hearts are broken after this match, Hajduk has quality at the goalkeeper position, there is no need to create any panic, regardless who is at the goal. I felt a lot of adrenaline before the game, no matter how many matches I have played. We wanted to bring the trophy to Split. We dominated, it was obvious that they were tired. We're so disappointed. I don't want to comment on refereeing and their decisions, but they have decided the winner. As we win together, we are together when we lose. Only by communion we can move forward" Dante Stipica said after the match.
