
Damir Burić is a new Hajduk head coach, this 55-year-old expert from Split returns to coaching Hajduk and will lead the first team on the Sunday's HT First League, round 1 match against Istra 1961 at Poljud.
Mister Burić coached Hajduk in the season 2015/2016 and for the last time just over three years ago, when Hajduk beat Zagreb 3:2 in Zagreb. In the meantime, he was a head coach at Austrian Admira Wacker and German Greuther Fürth.
He lived in Germany for over 30 years, where he spent much of his playing and coaching career. He played for Waldhof Mannheim, FC Ingolstadt, SC Freiburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
His first coaching job was in Ingolstadt and at the age of 26, he was already a coach-player. After he ended a football career, Burić was coaching at a well-known SC Freiburg Youth Academy since 2001, and afterwards he was also SC Freiburg assistant coach, during Volker Finke and Robin Dutt coaching era.
Damir Burić continued his collaboration with the coach Robin Dutt at Bayer 04 from Leverkusen, during which period they played in the Champions League Round of 16 and finally at Werder, where he was also the first assistant coach.
In addition to working experience in football clubs, Mr. Burić was also a member of the Germany U-21 national team under the leadership of Rainer Adrion for the U-21 EURO in Israel.
His assistant coaches will be Joško Španjić and Tonči Gabrić.
