Hajduk played a 1:1 draw against Shakhtyor from Soligorsk in Turkish Belek, in the last game of the central part of preparation for the continuation of the season. They took a lead after Mijo Caktaš scored in the 20th minute, and the final result was set by Elis Bakaj in the 38th minute. They could have scored the winning goal in the second half, they created some very good chances, they hit the post, but the result did not change.
Coach Siniša Oreščanin was pleased with the intensity of this match and the opponent that served as an ideal preparation for the start of the second part of the season.
"For us this was a very good match regarding the competitive segment, maybe this was the best picture of what to expect a week from now in Osijek. We played against quite aggressive team, solid in the middle and vertical in the attack. It was a very good match to finish the camp, the fifth game in a row, the tiredness was evident in the technical performance of the players, but it is normal at this stage of preparation" Oreščanin said.
"In the second half we reacted better, the first part was good for the first half an hour, and then they were better, especially after we scored. We have to work hard on these things, because when you concede a goal, it's not the end of the world. We are happy with everything we did in Turkey, another match that we played today was also useful because we managed to give all players a chance to play after yesterday the rhythm was slightly disrupted. Every game in Turkey has somehow shown what kind of Hajduk we can expect, we will be opting for a high pressure, domination with the ball and insist on aggressive and vertical game. All this is a process, but we want to be specific and know what we are doing in all four stages of the game" concluded Oreščanin.
Hajduk will return to Split tomorrow, when they are taking flight from Antalya via Istanbul and Zagreb to Split. Sunday is a day off, and preparations for the start of the season are continuing at Poljud on Monday.
