On Saturday, Hajduk is playing the away MAXtv First League, round 33 match against Rijeka at Rujevica stadium in Rijeka, kick - off 17:00. Coach Joan Carrillo held his pre.match press conference on Thursday and answered to numerous questions for over 20 minutes.
"I understand this great interest, it is an Adriatic derby. It will be a very interesting game, three points are important for both teams. They are important for their championship title race and for us to reach our goal" said Carrillo in the introduction.
"I don't won't to say yet who is going to travel to Rijeka but in the line up, we will have 11 players who are very respectful of Rijeka. Them plus the guys from the bench, all of them with a desire to win. It is our job to watch the opponent, to study them, and we try to choose the best ones to win. I have a lot of luck, I do a lot of changes and the team responds well".
"We haven't done anything yet, we have a goal we still didn't accomplish. The goal is to win the match, to win the match, you need to attack and defend. If you don't defend well, it is very difficult to win. We are preparing for defense discipline, but I told the players that they should attack more. Most importantly, the rhythm of the game has to be fierce and firm. Since it is one of the last rounds, as all teams, we are tired as well, so we have to do our best. That's why I expect a game of high intensity. They will do everything to win but so are we. I expect a match of a high rhythm, both teams want to win. So I'm trying to explain to my players that we did nothing yet. This match against Rijeka is one of the remaining matches. The hardest thing is to win, win, win, win and win again. This is the difference between a team and a very good team. We look for the way to become this very good team. Points are the same regardless of the opponent, it is important to progress. Only victory would satisfy me. I'll tell you why. I don't want to be overly confident, I know Rijeka will do everything to win. But we're working and preparing in order to win as well. If we win, our progress is evident, if we don't, I can't be satisfied" concluded Carrillo.
