
The Europa League playoff draw held today in Nyon decided that Hajduk will search for its chance to qualify to group stage against Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel. The first-leg match is scheduled for August 18 in Netanya, near Tel Aviv, and the second-leg will take place at Poljud stadium one week later.
Maccabi Tel Aviv is the most successful club in Israel, they won 21 Israeli championships and 23 Cup trophies in their 110-year long history, and they have qualified to Europa League by wining the second place in their championship, three points behind Hapoel Beer Sheva. On the way to the Europa League playoffs, they kicked Slovenian Gorica, Kazakhstan Kairat and Romanian Pandurii.
The club was founded in 1906 under the name Harishonim Le Zion-Yafo, and their matches are played at the stadium in Netanya that has a capacity of 13,610 spectators. Their head coach is a former Georgian striker Shota Arveladze, and the team has some experienced internationals such as Yossi Benayoun, who played for Chelsea and Liverpool and Tal Ben Haim who also spent part of his career in the English clubs (Chelsea, Manchester City, Sunderland, Portsmouth etc).
