After a convincing 4:0 win against Istra 1961, the first team turned to the game against NK Osijek which is scheduled on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Park mladezi stadium in Osijek, kick - off 15:00. Coach Joan Carrillo's team won four points in the first two spring championship matches against RNK Split and Istra 1961.

They scored five goals and conceded one. The top scorer in the first two rounds of the spring part of the championship was Ante Erceg, who scored two goals. Nikola Vlasic, Said Ahmed Said and Marko Futacs scored one goal.

This season, Hajduk played twice against NK Osijek. In the first match played in Osijek, the result was 1:1, Erceg scored the only goal for Hajduk but hw is suspended for the Sunday's match in Osijek due to accumulated three yellow cards. In another match, played at Poljud at the end of October, Hajduk won 1:0 thanks to a goal scored by Futacs and took valuable three points in their home match.

NK Osijek is currently holding the fourth position on the League table with 38 points. In the spring season, they have two defeats, at home against Rijeka (2:3) and in Zagreb against Lokomotiva (2:0).
