The first phase of extending training complex at Poljud with new pitches should be completed at the end of April, and immediately after that, Hajduk will start with the realization of the second phase where the construction of a stadium facility is planned on three floors, with the stand that will have a capacity of 1000 spectators and many other content.

This is the description of the project made by Geplus architects, a team of architects from Split and Zagreb, who projected the new training facilities. The project represents the first major and fully planned intervention within Poljud sports complex since its construction in 1979.

Description of the first stage

Two football fields intended for younger players up to 12 years old, where they can play football matches that include 7x7 players. When designing, special attention was paid to the safety of players and the pitches were designed in accordance with FIFA, UEFA and CFF regulations. For example, certified run-off areas, elastic fence, optimal distance from dangerous elements and other protection systems for players have been used. Each field has a capacity of 42 seats. There are also places for disabled and their accompanions.

Description of the second phase

The mini stadium building consists of three floors. The basement and the ground floor are for match officials, where there are two dressing rooms each of 50m2, with the possibility of dividing into two smaller dressing rooms of 25m2, room for referees and coaches, journalists, VIPs, office, ambulance, doping room, spectators and other additional and technical facilities.

On the ground floor there is a catering facility with a terrace overlooking the football field, which is used by parents and other spectators during the training sessions of children. During the match the catering and the terrace are used as a fan zone. On the floor there is also a ticket point space as well as the main entrance to the stadium.

The total surface of the indoor space is 620.0 m2.

The mini stadium facility is designed to have a direct exit to the existing 105x68m natural grass field and two new artificial grass fields, thus connecting the entire training grounds to a new mini stadium.

The shape of the stadium respects and fits into the existing morphology of green cascades, in a way that corresponds vertically to their altitudes. Also, the green stadium roof respects the context of the greenery in which it is located, thus integrating the new architecture into an existing surrounding.

The visual identity of the building is determined by the recognizable elements of HNK Hajduk, the colors of the club used on vertical aluminum slat elements, which are associated with one of the official jerseys.

With its position in the space, the mini football stadium object represents an element of delimitation which logically separates the space of football fields from the parking space, i.e. the access space, while simultaneously preserving the existing pine trees.

Access to spectators is provided through the roof of the building with a new staircase directly from the main access passage of Poljud Stadium. Thus the concept of communication throughout the complex is respected, but also a clear separation of the spectators on the upper level from the officials on the lower floor.

On the south side, a separate entrance for guest supporters is also provided, separated by partition elements.

The stand should be completely reconstructed and covered with a concrete shade that corresponds to the concrete of Poljud Stadium. The stand has a capacity of 1,000 spectators with 550 covered seats. There will be additional room for VIPs, journalists, TV broadcasters as well as disabled and their companions.

The stadium also uses renewable energy sources located on the parking lot as a design element and a car park shade element. The arrangement of existing and new green areas should follow the Mediterranean spirit.

The project will fulfill all the prerequisites for playing Second HNL at this mini stadium.
